Bali-Indonesia

-Arriving day is the first day include in your visa.

We landed in Bali at night, was about 11 p.m when we went to the contour and the lady behind asked me when are we leaving. From her explanation we found out that, in Bali, the day you are arriving is a first day in your visa (included in 30 days you can stay there without paying, as a tourist). Our ticket to Thailand was booked a day too late ( I would never count arriving day as a first day) and she informed us that we will have to pay a penalty fee which is lower than if we would like to extend our visa. In this moment my brain had a moment of brightness. It was just 50 minuets till next day. I’ve asked if we can just wait around till after midnight and they said YES. This way we avoided any additional costs but for the future I have to remember to count days from the moment we arrive to the country.

- Hospital

If you have read my previous posts you may know that I was poorly few times during our stay in Philippines. We thought it’s normal, everyone has to get use to the new food etc. Unfortunately, in my case, it wasn’t just a Bali Belly, I had salmonella! We found it out in the hospital (Toya Medical Clinic- very helpful people) in Bali after I almost passed out on the street during our walk to the town (we have stayed a bit too far from the centre, I think. It was about an hour walk, one way). In the hospital: they gave me two IVs ( I was very dehydrated), took two blood samples (which has been immediately sent to be tested), done an interview and generally took care of me. I felt that they know what they were doing. After all I had to take antibiotics for a week (yeah,no alcohol) plus they gave me some electrolytes and probiotic. This hospital is private (as probably most of those places) so we had to cover everything ourselves. The cost of the day in the hospital, blood test and after treatment: almost 4,000,000 Philippines peso (just over £200).

- Hiring a bike

Bali is a place which you can explore on the bike. Everything is quite close. Our longest journey was about 2 and half hour, one way, from Ubud. How to rent a bike? And who can actually do it? Both answers are very easy. Everyone can hire a bike, even if you haven’t got a driving licence but you feel comfortable and confident-you can do it. Just be careful, the roads’ conditions aren’t the best on the island and police is really happy to stop tourist and charge them a few times more than local people would pay. How to ren a bike- you can either ask in your hotel or try in the town. You will find it very easy. Just don’t take the first one. Look around, check the prices from other people because everyone here wants to make money on you. Example: we asked our host how much would that be to hire a bike for a month. His price 850.000 IDR- not too bad but I knew you can do it even cheaper. Mat went to the town, walked around asking for a prices. One person asked  for 2.000.000 IDR- nonsense ! You should never feel like you are exploited! Finally he found a guy who only wanted 700.000 IDR- 150.000 IDR cheaper than our host wanted. How crazy is that? I’m not sure how much it is to hire a bike for asingle day, but I think people where taking between 50.000 IDR and 70.000IDR a day.

-Prices

Remember: the first price they tell you isn’t a real price. Those people know that tourists have got a money and they are trying to take an advantage of it. Be prepared for haggling. If you are not happy with the price (or even if you are but you want to check how far can you go) just walk away. I can promise you that trick will get a lower price. Another tip: go to the market in the evening, before closing, you can haggling even more then. Some examples:
1. Round, typical Balineese handbag :from 250.000 IDR to 100.000 IDR
2. A dress : from 280.000 IDR to as low as 80.000 IDR!
3. Sarong: from 150.000 IDR to 40.000 IDR!
4. Fridge magnets : 5 for 50.000 IDR instead of 1 for 50.000 IDR
5. White water rafting: from 900.000 IDR/person to 250.000 IDR/person (more about rafting-soon).

I hope this information will help you guys when you will plan your own trip to this beautiful place.

09.9.2018 Kuala Lampur, Malezja Dzisiejszy dzie艅 postanowi艂am po艣wieci膰 na przygotowanie nas na dalsza podr贸偶. Zrobi艂am sobie liste rzeczy do zrobienia i powoli id臋 z tym do przodu. Zdecydowali艣my, ze nie lubimy Kuala Lampur, jako艣 nas to miasto nie oczarowa艂o i nie chcemy zostawa膰 tu zbyt d艂ugo. Pocz膮tkowo mieli艣my zarezerwowany pok贸j do 13.09 ale bilety do Kambod偶y na ten dzie艅 by艂y drogie i dopiero 16.09 by艂y ta艅sze wiec musieli艣my sobie znale藕膰 co艣 taniego tutaj na kilka dodatkowych dni. Szczerze to my艣la艂am, ze skoro ju偶 jeste艣my w tym hotelu to przed艂u偶enie pobytu b臋dzie kwestia groszowa, a wychodzi na to, ze by艂oby to dro偶sze ni偶 online, a online i tak by艂o drogo wiec po prostu zmienimy hotel. Co tam dla nas, nic nowego. No i w艂a艣nie Kambodza-nasz nast臋pny cel podr贸偶y. Musimy sobie ogarn膮膰 zdj臋cia do wiz (wgl to takie 艣mieszne, ze byli艣my ju偶 w tylu pa艅stwach i nigdzie nie wymagano wizy, a Kambod偶a i Wietnam wymagaj膮) bo inaczej nas nie wpuszcza. Troch臋 lipa, ze za wizy trzeb

Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai

Hello lovely people, how are you? I’m great, that’s probably because today I’m going to share with you a few days, which we spend in Chiang Mai. Stupidly, we decided to stay in Chiang Mai only 5 days Now we know that this town deserves way more attention, but back then, when we were planning our trip we thought that it’s no point to stay there too long because there is no sea there Anyway, we knew we wanted to make the most of this short time and we booked two activities, which we mainly came there for. It is: visit the elephant sanctuary and and trip to Chiang Rai, where we wanted to see the White Temple.       Let me start with the info that you can find a lot of elephant parks/sanctuaries in Chiang Mai. That sound obvious, because there’s no better place to see elephants than Thailand? I don’t think so.  I’ve checked a few different phone apps, websites and tourist brochures before we made a decision.  The main condition was to not be able to ride the elephant. I know, it sound

Przez nasze choroby kilka dni sp臋dzili艣my odpoczywaj膮c, nie robi膮c nic produktywnego (tak, Mata tez dopad艂a ta okropna bakteria, biedny), g艂贸wnie siedz膮c w pokoju, albo spaceruj膮c. Uda艂o nam si臋 zrobi膰 najpi臋kniejszy island hopping w El Nido. W 偶yciu nie widzia艂am tak niebieskiej wody, tak pi臋knych ryb i koralowc贸w. Te ma艂py nie by艂y wyszkolone, nie oczekiwa艂y karmienia, by艂y po prostu zaj臋te sob膮 od czasu do czasu tylko zerkaj膮c na nas jak na jakie艣 dziwol膮gi 馃ぃ Mat powiedzia艂, ze gdyby mia艂 bucket list to by w艂a艣nie odhaczy艂 kolejny punkt ✅ Kolejnego dnia wybrali艣my si臋 do Nacpan beach.
