Bali-Indonesia

-Arriving day is the first day include in your visa.

We landed in Bali at night, was about 11 p.m when we went to the contour and the lady behind asked me when are we leaving. From her explanation we found out that, in Bali, the day you are arriving is a first day in your visa (included in 30 days you can stay there without paying, as a tourist). Our ticket to Thailand was booked a day too late ( I would never count arriving day as a first day) and she informed us that we will have to pay a penalty fee which is lower than if we would like to extend our visa. In this moment my brain had a moment of brightness. It was just 50 minuets till next day. I’ve asked if we can just wait around till after midnight and they said YES. This way we avoided any additional costs but for the future I have to remember to count days from the moment we arrive to the country.

- Hospital

If you have read my previous posts you may know that I was poorly few times during our stay in Philippines. We thought it’s normal, everyone has to get use to the new food etc. Unfortunately, in my case, it wasn’t just a Bali Belly, I had salmonella! We found it out in the hospital (Toya Medical Clinic- very helpful people) in Bali after I almost passed out on the street during our walk to the town (we have stayed a bit too far from the centre, I think. It was about an hour walk, one way). In the hospital: they gave me two IVs ( I was very dehydrated), took two blood samples (which has been immediately sent to be tested), done an interview and generally took care of me. I felt that they know what they were doing. After all I had to take antibiotics for a week (yeah,no alcohol) plus they gave me some electrolytes and probiotic. This hospital is private (as probably most of those places) so we had to cover everything ourselves. The cost of the day in the hospital, blood test and after treatment: almost 4,000,000 Philippines peso (just over £200).

- Hiring a bike

Bali is a place which you can explore on the bike. Everything is quite close. Our longest journey was about 2 and half hour, one way, from Ubud. How to rent a bike? And who can actually do it? Both answers are very easy. Everyone can hire a bike, even if you haven’t got a driving licence but you feel comfortable and confident-you can do it. Just be careful, the roads’ conditions aren’t the best on the island and police is really happy to stop tourist and charge them a few times more than local people would pay. How to ren a bike- you can either ask in your hotel or try in the town. You will find it very easy. Just don’t take the first one. Look around, check the prices from other people because everyone here wants to make money on you. Example: we asked our host how much would that be to hire a bike for a month. His price 850.000 IDR- not too bad but I knew you can do it even cheaper. Mat went to the town, walked around asking for a prices. One person asked  for 2.000.000 IDR- nonsense ! You should never feel like you are exploited! Finally he found a guy who only wanted 700.000 IDR- 150.000 IDR cheaper than our host wanted. How crazy is that? I’m not sure how much it is to hire a bike for asingle day, but I think people where taking between 50.000 IDR and 70.000IDR a day.

-Prices

Remember: the first price they tell you isn’t a real price. Those people know that tourists have got a money and they are trying to take an advantage of it. Be prepared for haggling. If you are not happy with the price (or even if you are but you want to check how far can you go) just walk away. I can promise you that trick will get a lower price. Another tip: go to the market in the evening, before closing, you can haggling even more then. Some examples:
1. Round, typical Balineese handbag :from 250.000 IDR to 100.000 IDR
2. A dress : from 280.000 IDR to as low as 80.000 IDR!
3. Sarong: from 150.000 IDR to 40.000 IDR!
4. Fridge magnets : 5 for 50.000 IDR instead of 1 for 50.000 IDR
5. White water rafting: from 900.000 IDR/person to 250.000 IDR/person (more about rafting-soon).

I hope this information will help you guys when you will plan your own trip to this beautiful place.

No island- Krabi

Hello everyone, I would like to share some sad news with you: today is the day when I’m sharing with you my last post from beautiful Thailand. I can promise you, this time it’s a beautiful story, with,I hope, you will like. Let me know what you think by leaving your feedback under the post, please.      Our last destination, in Thailand, was Krabi and it’s completely different story to Patong’s.  I’ve booked us a hotel (room in the hotel, I mean, of course) in Krabi Town ( I didn’t checked it properly and we have been quite far from the town; just an hour walk, one way), which hasn’t got any connection with the sea (calm nights for me) and the funny name of the town comes from the fact that you can find lots of tiny crabs there, on the side of the river. I’ll be honest with you, we have tried to walk, from the hotel to town, but it was eating lots of our time and energy so we decided to hire a moped. We had really good price; only 1000 Baths for 5 days...

No cos okropnego. No i w tym wszystkim jestem Ja. Biała kobieta z blond włosami (jeśli to można nazwać blond...

No i właśnie Kambodza-nasz następny cel podróży.
